چکیده
The honey bee is economically significant insect and plays an important role in the pollination of various plants. With regard to widespread use pesticides agricultural lands, bees, as non-target useful insect, inadvertently contact these chemicals. Thus, order evaluate effects some pesticides, toxicity three insecticides from different chemical classes including imidacloprid (0.16 mg a.i./l), ethion (79.47 hexaflumuron (500 a.i./l) on detoxifying enzymes worker bees mortality immature was investigated. These chemicals were selected because they are used globally ingested by bees. sub-lethal concentration reduced activity acetylcholinesterase (AChE) glutathione S-transferase (GST). Exposure concentrations esterase (EST) activities treated larvae increased group compared untreated controls, but this difference not statistically significant. Our results indicate that disrupt physiology thereby reducing efficiency beneficial pollinator. Also, it additional studies be performed investigate larval development.

Nonsusceptibility of the Honey Bee, Apis mellifera (Hymenoptera: Apidae), to Steinernematid and Heterorhabditid Nematodes.
We exposed honey bee workers and brood to four entomopathogenic nematode species under conditions normally encountered in the hive by spraying nematodes onto combs. Mortality of adult bees exposed to any of the nematode species was less than 10%, and there was no evidence of nematode infection when dead adults were dissected. To assess the impact of nematodes on brood, we used smaller-size hone...
متن کاملAssessing hygienic behavior of Apis mellifera unicolor (Hymenoptera: Apidae), the endemic honey bee from Madagascar.
Hygienic behavior (HB) is one of the natural mechanisms of honey bee for limiting the spread of brood diseases and Varroa destructor parasitic mite. Objective of our study was to measure HB of Apis mellifera unicolor colonies (N = 403) from three geographic regions (one infested and two free of V. destructor) in Madagascar. The pin-killing method was used for evaluation of the HB. Responses wer...
متن کاملDoes Cry1Ab protein affect learning performances of the honey bee Apis mellifera L. (Hymenoptera, Apidae)?
Genetically modified Bt crops are increasingly used worldwide but side effects and especially sublethal effects on beneficial insects remain poorly studied. Honey bees are beneficial insects for natural and cultivated ecosystems through pollination. The goal of the present study was to assess potential effects of two concentrations of Cry1Ab protein (3 and 5000 ppb) on young adult honey bees. F...
متن کاملEffects of Oxalic Acid on Apis mellifera (Hymenoptera: Apidae)
Abstract: Oxalic acid dihydrate is used to treat varroosis of Apis mellifera. This study investigates lethal and sublethal effects of oxalic acid dihydrate on individually treated honeybees kept in cages under laboratory conditions as well as the distribution in the colony. After oral application, bee mortality occurred at relatively low concentrations (No Observed Adverse Effect Level (NOAEL) ...

The pollination effectiveness of the stingless bee Melipona quadrifasciata and the honey bee Apis mellifera was tested in tomato plots. The experiment was conducted in four greenhouses as well as in an external open plot in Ribeirão Preto, SP, Brazil. The tomato plants were exposed to visits by M. quadrifasciata in one greenhouse and to A. mellifera in another; two greenhouses were maintained w...
